Hi!
Advice for what seems to be an infection on my favia? I placed a Duncan coral on a rock and when I returned after being away for a weekend I saw that the Duncan was on top of the favia. Duncan coral was fine with no injuries at all. However, the favia seems to be in bad shape. Has anyone...
Hi all,
So I've never had much luck with Favia, but I wanted to try again.
I've had this watermelon favia for a little over a month (photo attached). I don't really know how to tell if it's doing well or not?
Salinity: 1.026
Alk: 9.1
pH (midday): 8.18
Temp: 79-80
Nitrate: .04
Phos: .10-.14...
So I got my FAVIA earlier this month and it seems to be doing okay but it’s got these dark lines on it and I can’t tell if it’s dying or just part of it? Everything looks okay that I can see…The Photo without the dark lines was from when I received it.

Hi All - Any idea what is growing on the side of my favia. I got a frag where you could see the skeleton on the side. On the side, I am seeing two white spots developing that are gooey/ soft.
Any clue what this is and if I should just leave it or try to scrape it off?
There is a dozen or so of what seems to be flatworms on my favia.
There don't seem to bother the coral at all. In opposite, it looks very healthy. And considering the number of them, it is not a recent development.
I am not sure where they came from.
What should I do about them? Dip the coral...
It seems that the general consensus is that coral's zooxanthellae utilize nitrates for coral growth, coloring, etc. But on average, is there some sort of chart or general knowledge about how many nitrates corals can pull from the water in a given amount of time? For instance, One Polyp of...
I have a few favias now, and I keep them at the bottom of the tank, In relatively high flow. Is this bad for the coral? If so, how much flow do they like?
Hi there,
Need to clear out frag racks, local pickup/meet up is preferred (zip: 94533) but i can also ship starting next week, if weather is better for affected areas. Shipping is $50 outside CA and $30 within CA. Standard DOA applies, but cannot refund shipping cost if due to carrier delay...
I am wondering if Favia’s will do well in sand or if they’re better on rock? I read that that people who place they’re Favia in higher Places eventually lose colour over time, and to not have it in a high flow area. So I put mine in the sand beside a few rocks. But then I read a thread that said...
so my favia has been partially devoured by my peppermint shrimp. The shrimp hasn't touched any other LPS corals I have in the tank. Just wondering if this favia coral can regenerate its tissue after having so much of it taken off? Should I just donate the plug to my LFS?

This is my first actual reef tank over a year old and established, had many LRFO tanks before this. It wouldn’t let me do a 4K upload on here ♀️

about 3 weeks ago my corals were fed concentrated phytoplankton and had an adverse reaction. (I know, stupid experiment). The result was my euphilia dropped a couple tentacle ends for a week qnd cant be feed Reed roids without throwing up its guts, my war coral frag now has a sizable chunk...
It looks like my chalice coral frag touched a favia frag. The chalice seems ok outside a little white spot where it made contact, the favia frag however is half fuzzy and slimy and dull. The other half seems plenty normal though. Is there anyway to save the favia?
Upon seeing a recent post I am now questioning what is what in my tank
What is the difference between the different types of brain corals? (Favia, goniastrea, favites, etc)
Hello!
I am hoping to get some help on these favia coral frags I bought a year ago. I am just trying to learn more and really understand what is most likely causing my problem.
I have a Christmas favia and a dragon soul favia. When I bought them they had great coloration and shape.
Over the...
