My clam is usually doing really well in my tank. However, I just noticed there is Aiptasia on it this morning, and it's not opening very wide. But it still seems sensitive to light. Do I need to get rid of the Aiptasia? Does Aiptasia harm clam?
The packaging wasn’t the best treated. Half water missing and the clam in 2 pieces. I’m thinking I have 2 as it’s my 1st clam experience. A maxima. I’ve taken it out & underneath it is a huge empty hole, I also copped a spray. Very gross. I’ve examined the rock piece and the other part of his...

Tank is swarming with copepods and this weekend I finally get to add a fish (still deciding on the first tank mate!) I saw this weird clam like shell on the live rock. Any ideas what this is? I did think it was a clam or some kind of mollusc but kind of can’t believe that! Any ideas are...

Howdy. I’ve been considering getting a clam for a while and my tank is now a bit over a year. Parameters seem to stay pretty stable, with my alk at 9, calcium 430, mag 1260. I struggle with elevated phosphates (most recently .81, which is actually pretty good) but I’ve heard clams like some...
Hey all! I'm looking for suggestions on corals that will be happy on the sand bed, or on a small island for support if needed at the very bottom of my tank. PAR in the area I'm looking at comes in around 220. I've been looking around and visited the best local coral shop for inspiration, but I'm...
I’ve had this beautiful Squamosa clam for a little over two weeks. So far it’s been looking healthy and opening consistently, until yesterday. It closed up in the AM and stay shut all day. Started to open this morning but shut again maybe 30 minutes after the lights came on.
No fish bothering...

Hello, I purchased Maxima Clam about 3 weeks ago, and noticed that it's mantle has become flaky and cracked, like asphalt that was heavily salted in the winter (It's more clear when you zoom in on the picture).
It's receiving about 150 PAR and has low to moderate flow. Alkalinity is at 8.2...
Hey everyone! Back again with another critter ID!
Found this clam-like critter on one of the shells that this hermit has been carrying around for a while
At first I figured it was just some sort of abnormal growth from the snail that used to call this shell home.
I noticed recently that this...
Hey everyone, I’ve had this deresa clam for quite a long time and grew it out from 3” to a bit larger than a fully inflated American football. If you were in my position would you keep it out of sentimental reasons or look to sell/trade to open up more negative space in the rockscape with...
(Posting for a friend)
His tank got a very weird maybe clam liked creature in beneath the rock. Can anyone ID this? He had a Tridacna crocea five years ago but unfortunately it died so he thinks if that’s the baby from the Crocea Clam?
(I personally can’t tell anything from the pic, but that’s...
Hello everyone.
I've been attempting to do my best at caring for this Derasa clam I have.
It seems fine other than the fact that I have this ... THING... stuck to it.
When I first saw it I figured it was snail poop or something.
But as I'm cleaning my tank, I noticed it got bigger ... I...

I have a very large Derasa Clam. Bought the size of a football. Lately I have noticed my Yellow Tang nipping at it. Its not taking any chunks out and there are no marks. Its like it just hitting it with its mouth. The clam doesn't seem to be bothered. It is not closing or flinching when the...
Hi, Im trying to restart my tank aiming for a bristle worm free tank (I know bristle worms are good CUC but I just have mental problem with them so my tank cant have them and please dont attach any worm related images or ill freak out thanks). I know as a fact there are tons of them in my tank...
Hello! I'm a new clam dad and I recently picked up this Derasa clam about 3 days ago.
I love this thing to pieces but I noticed its Incurrent Siphon has been gaping the past two days... I've been watching it like a hawk to make sure it didn't show any other signs of unhappiness but I can't...
Got a gigas clam 2 weeks ago and it looks bothered by something. Already inspected for pyramid snails and anything else growing on its shell, it’s about 7” I feed reef nutrition phyto every 3 days, I have a crocea that’s doing great and growing, haven’t seen any fish pick at it either.
