Hello folks.. My 25g AIO is on the newer side relatively, but has been mostly stable after an initial cycle. I woke up today and overnight, my tank has exploded with white/clear strands, everywhere and on everything. At first I was worried it was something invasive, looking like individual...
Hello everyone. I have attached 3 pictures of this white stringy stuff that appeared two days ago in my tank. I assume it is bacteria? Can anyone confirm or correct this? Thank you!
I've been thinking on this one for a bit as I have a couple of well-established tanks and I'm starting up some smaller new ones. Typically a decent bit of good live rock and care can jump start the tank pretty well but what if I had a larger media reactor hooked up to one of my larger well...
Hey all, its been 6 months since I shut down my tanks and donated all of my corals and inhabitants along with selling my own home and uprooting my family to move to our paradise! With that being said I think it is fair time to start a new first build in our new home!
I have found my passion and...
Took a sample from my sump and saw this under the microscope.
They are clear and pretty fast moving. Any idea what they could be?
I have large cell dino in the display.
Thanks
I recently had an outbreak of Dino's in my sand. I siphoned out the top layer of sand, rinsed it out thoroughly, added fresh saltwater along with the recommended first time dose of Microbe Lift Special Blend and some silicate. One day later and my sand looks pristine---no sign of Dino's other...
Hey guys! I'm sure this question has been asked and discussed here. I have a 2 month old 60 gallon rock only aquarium. 2 clowns and a yellow coris wrasse. Everything with the tank is going great. I do water changes about once every 3 to 4 weeks. About 5 days ago, the water has gotten cloudy and...

Hey guys, a pink layer is spreading on my biofilters, protein skimmer, main pump, everywhere. It’s on the walls of the sump too.
The sump never gets light, unless I am working on it. I only turn on a flashlight for 15 minutes max. So would it be valid to assume it isn’t an algae?
Im not sure...
I’ve had my china wrasse for about 3 weeks. He’s been doing great until today, eating mysis and coral frenzy. Noticed earlier today he’s been swimming funny, sometimes almost vertically and his belly seems extremely full. First thought was swim bladder or constipation. 90 gallon tank, 36 gallon...
20 gal reef tank, hob filter, 1 Pixy hawkfish
So a few things.
1) I'm super new to the hobby.
2) about a week ago my son dumped an entire bag of food in my tank .
3) I now have these weird patches of white (blue under light) all over my tank.
It's on the gravel, rocks, everything. I noticed it...
Hi all! So I have a fresh water planted tank (2 weeks old) and I’ve been very confused on some conflicting information on the internet. My tank is a UNS 16 gallon AIO…using Seachem Tidal Matrix in pouch and two bio blocks that came with the tank, and some Marineland bio balls. I chose to use...
I have this slime on my sand bed and on some of my rock. The slime sticks to the rock and sticks pieces of sand to it. I can’t suck it out with a siphon the sand that sticks to it weighs it down. I have to manual remove the slime and the sand that is attacked to it as well.
I am dealing with something in my tank that I can’t identify. It looks similar to GHA but is white. It flows similar to GHA & comes off objects easily with a toothbrush.
It is invading my tank and is killing my corals. It appears to creep up the base of the skeleton and maybe suffocate the polyp...
I’m building a max nano cause a buddy just had it sitting in his garage, no real spacific plans with it, got a little nano sump built and plumbed in. Since Iv just been doing this on free time here and there nothing about it has been urgent. I have some dry live rock I’m gonna put in it. I have...
Symbiodinium (zooxanthellae) extracted from a E. quadricolor and T. Squamosa respectively. Cultured in much the same manner as phytoplankton. These dinoflagellates live symbiotically within corals.
- recover coral bleaching
- alternative microalgae feed
- corals are a bit more receptive to...
So I got a anemone that came with a rock it was attached on. The anemone moved from the rock and when I took at closer look at the rock it looks very strange. Is this some type of algae? It looks like it had tentacles growing from it and some other weird patterns. Please see pictures below and...
Hello everyone, I've been in the hobby for 2.5 years now and have an established 110 gallon with 40 gallon sump. I have a bacteria bloom that seems to be lingering around. I've read conflicting things online wuxj as don't do big water cahabhes as it will prolong the bloom or don't use a UV...
Hello everyone!
My tank is a 80 gallon with a 13 gallon sump, its been running since March and most things have generally been going good. I started the tank up with a Maxspect R420 putting out about 220 par at the surface. My nutrition values have been pretty stable from the beginning, sitting...
For some reason I have these in many spots of my tank, some are very large and some are small. Whenever I suck it up with a baster it smells putrid. Does anyone know what it is?
Hi all,
Seeking some advise on what this could be on my yellow tang.
It just started a few days ago. Looks like it's bruised or maybe an infection?
Has a couple bristles sticking out the red area. Could this possibly caused by bristleworms?
The yellow tang eats and swims just fine and no...
Hey everyone,
After moving house recently, I re-set up my tank. However, I have hesitation about my bacteria culture. I have AF pro bio S, bio S, and NP pro but all of them’s expiration date is February 2023. I smelled but none of them smell bad they smell what they should smell like. I kept...
Every few days my back wall is covered in these things & in a few small random sections of the tank and sump. They stick on as well. Is it a bacteria or something more sinister.
