Hi everyone, I currently have two colonies of Zoa's one in the mid range of my tank and one near the bottom of my tank. I have a 13.5 eco with the stock lighting and the colony of Zoa's near the bottom is not blooming as well as the one in the mid range. I tried using super glue for the first time to glue down my corals and this colony of Zoas was my guinea pig. FYI, the bottom colony has two types of Zoa's on it so I don't know if that changes anything. All other corals are doing great and if anyone has any suggestions on what to do that would be much appreciated, Thanks.

What other corals are in the tank? I've tried 4 different zoa species and only 2 took good hold, the others slowly died off. From what I've noticed zoas light lower light levels, and the stock fluval light is VERY bright and boils the water. Of course check your parameters, but I would suggest upgrading your light to something more controllable. The AI blade is a PERFECT fit for that tank :)

I have a GSP, Hammer, sinularia leather, psammocora, and cyphastrea but it is on the back glass, and the other zoa colony. I have also done some research on the blade and it is too expensive and according to some just unreliable, do you think the AI prime would be better or stick with one grow and one glow blade? Also if I wanted to move the zoa colony, is there a tool that could safely remove the colony from the rock because it is glued with super glue.

Thanks for the advice!

Pictures will help. “ not blooming as well” is the only description you provide, that’s very hard to diagnose.

The one on the left is the happy one and the one on the right is the not so happy one and also has 6 polyps total but these three are the only ones that usually show.

My apologies for not providing a thorough description, I am still getting used to reefing and the terms that follow. What I meant was it is not looking as happy as the other colony and not all of the polyps are blooming/open. Compared to the other colony this one only has a couple polyps open at a time whereas the other one has all open or all closed.

FYI, these images are with the white light for better photo resolution, I usually run the blue light over white.

Maybe someone else will have comment but I honestly see nothing that would make me concerned. They both look fine, your tank is very nice everything looks fine to me. Corals get moody sometimes, perhaps that’s why you see , but I would take a wait and see approach.

I have my prime for over a year and I think it was used 2 years prior and it lights my whole 30g with just 1
