Hi all,

Looking to remove my qt’ed majestic angel from my tank. Was good for about 5 months before he started fighting with my copper and & Juvenile Regal. Unfortunately, the boots juvenile regal is a personal favorite of mine due to raising it from less than 1” small.
The majestic has started to nip at corals. More specifically, in my system he’s only going after a specific hammer, leaving the remainder untouched. I believe it’s a learned habit from my previous queen.

He’s currently about 3-3.5”. Eats TDO medium pellets, nori, mysis, clams on the half shell & mostly anything that is offered. He was purchased from Ocean devotion LA for quarantining purposes.
If you have any questions, please ask!

I would love the Majestic, but I would really love an update on your Regal Angel. I am waiting for my pair to come. There seem to be very little posting on CB Regal angels. I am sure there is a large number of these fish leaving the breeders.
How long have you had him? How big when you got him and how big now? Did you have any problem?... ... ....

Hi there! Sorry for taking so long to respond, but here it is;
I ordered my juvenile from Biota and put him through QT. This was my 3rd attempt so I was taking it very slowly. First two passed away during treatment unfortunately. I QT everything before it goes into the main display. About a year ago I had gotten velvet from a shipment from Biota. Although their stock is captive bred, they use ocean water that gets filtered. I found this out later on after some back and forth with them. Hence, no matter where they come from (except Marine Collectors), everything gets QT'ed.
The process that worked, was the TTM method. he arrived tiny, about 1/2 an inch or so (I'll attach some photos of his progress). I started him on eating TDO B2 pellets, calanus & Mysis. After 2-3 days of hiding, he started eating slowly. I did this for about 14 days with tank transfers every 3-days. At the end removed everything, put in some PVC & dosed the qt tank with prazipro, then put him through some hydrogen peroxide/H2O2 dips - to supplement for Formalin. He made it through this process without any issues. Ate well throughout and never had any side effects. Currently, he's about 3-3.5" (or the size of a adult female clown fish). Eats very well & is developing quite nicely. Definitely one of the more outgoing fishes in the tank. He's running up when i walk into the room & when he sees the shot cup, he knows what's coming. One thing to note, although he did start developing a nipping habit, once I started spot feeding him more TDO medium pellets it stopped immediately. he seems content and just grazes on algae all day with my purple tang.

TL;DR: I highly recommend setting up a separate tank to get them relaxed & eating. These guys come in VERY small. I also left him in a qt box in my tank for about an additional 5-days. Once released, he took to shadowing my copperband who didn't mind. They do grow at a relatively slow rate when compared to others (i.e. yellow/purple tangs). I've had him for about a year & he's grown about 2-2.5". No real problems that I've noted aside from the nipping of corals which stopped completely once I modified his diet to add more pellets.

If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask! He's one of my favorite in the tank and watching him graze all day like a tang is very delightful!
