I was reviewing my pending skimmer decision. Have been considering Reef Octopus Regal 200-int Protein Skimmer but I came across this XFLO 6-2.5 Protein Fractionator Skimmer Venturi Driven. RK2 has a great reputation and I have seen their skimmers in action. Wondering if anyone has taken this out for a test drive?
be well and happy reefing.
Following. @rsumner has a great build thread (much larger RK2) skimmer though. I have couple RK2 UVs that I am very happy with. RK2 is very responsive to questions. I do believe though RK2 is geared more towards commercial and larger tanks. I am running older MRC but may go with Reef Octopus or RK2 also.

I have the RK5AC from RK2 and the build quality is awesome, but it's huge! The RK5AC falls in their "commercial" line of skimmers, but the XFLO products are still built with high quality parts and has an HDPE base. I chose their commercial line because I wanted built-in wash-down features that weren't available in the XFLO.

I've debated downgrading to the XFlo 6-3.5 a few times, but I decided to feed more instead :). You won't be disappointed with RK2 if that's the direction you go.

I ran that model for 6 months. I really liked it. I gave it to @BCSreef and he liked it enough to buy a brand new one as a spare.

Yes, as @JCOLE said, he gave me his old one and I bought another to swap out while cleaning. Very solid construction. Highly recommended! Thanks again Josh!

I’ve been running an X-flo 6 on my CADE 1500 for the last year, paired it with one of the Jebao pumps on Amazon.

Honestly, I’m never going back to a needle wheel design. Runs efficiently, is easily tuned and the skimmate is always dark and thick.

You won’t go wrong with it, but just make sure your stand can accommodate for its height.

I have a basement sump so height is not an issue. Thanks for the feedback!
