Yes it's my first marine reef tank.
Thank you I been watching everything I can on YouTube is it BRS? I live inuk east Sussex, this has been a dream since I was young boy 33 now with twin boys with special needs and trying to show them something what is magical in this planet stillAs a new tank, you're going to see all kinds of crazy colors as the tank matures. Algae is going to grow and die off throughout it's life cycle. Nothing to worry about
Like Crabs said, totally normal for a new tank to go through stages like this. Usually clears up over time. What do you have in the tank as far as livestock? overfeeding can exacerbate the problem. Also check that your nitrates and phosphates aren't too high.Thank you I been watching everything I can on YouTube is it BRS? Also on where and what is a good refugium pleaseHave you got any advice on what clean up crew I should introduce? I'm in East Sussex and father of twins, so would love to no what will be best for my tank, as well all no it's not a cheap passion.
Snails are always a good one to start with (trochus, turbo, nassarius to name a few), Urchins are good if you have hair algae, Hermit crabs are good at removing algae as well.Have you got any advice on what clean up crew I should introduce? Agree with above, snails, hermits and certain crabs are great at algae removal.Snails are always a good one to start with (trochus, turbo, nassarius to name a few), Urchins are good if you have hair algae, Hermit crabs are good at removing algae as well.
Hey cards! Thanks for your reply I have a red sea 250 with sump. In my sump I have a bubble skimmer in front of my two filter socks and a small bag of carbon and a small bag of round plastic balls.Agree with above, snails, hermits and certain crabs are great at algae removal.
As for refugium, all depends on how much space you have. If you have a sump where you can dedicate a chamber to a refugium, chaeto, sea lettuce, and certain types of caulerpa are perfect for nutrient removal
Pic is fuzzy but looks like a substance known as foraminiferansSorry about the pictures what is cyno algae and any advice help will be very much appreciated
