This will have a number next to it if there's any notifications. They're listed newest to oldest. It will say "Daniel@R2R mentioned you" or "Daniel@R2R quoted your post in the thread ....."

Yep! Unless you have mentions turned off in your notification settings.

They are automatically on unless you went in and specifically disabled them.
