I have gone through several Apex utility pumps and would like to replace them all with Tunze pumps powered by my EB832 Accessory Ports. The Accessory ports are 24v and the Tunze pumps run on 12v and pull up to 1200mA.

Can I use a Reducer Converter to step the EB832 24v down to 12v? Would the following Reducer Converter work for this purpose?

Step Down Converter I Would Like To Use

The Tunze pumps are so reliable. I’ve used them for more than 10 years pushing Kalk slurry with no issues and they are much less expensive.

In theory it should, since DC only draws as needed.
So even with 1.2A draw @ 12V that dc would probably do it in 24V @ .6A which is why below the max spec for the EB832 24V port.

But why not just use a Apex ATO Pump?
The tunze osmolator pump for example... the old one... is not known to be the most reliable thing btw, and have people frequently replacing them. Not to mention they are louder then a nagging wife when on.

Thank you for the response. I’m an Apex Neptune fan, however, in the last 2 years I’ve gone through 4 of their utility pumps. 2 died within a few months of putting them in action. Apex support has been great and the pumps were replaced, but I need something that I can rely on especially if I’m out of town. The Tunze pumps I currently have, have been going strong for over 10 years with no issues, even when pushing kalk slury.

Maybe I’ve just been fortunate with these pumps :)
Maybe the better question is, what is the most reliable pump for ATO and AWC that I can control with Apex?

I'm on the same boat, gone through too many of their pumps now I've got a 5000.021 trying to get the right barecable to get it hooked up to EB power strip and be done with the pmup.
