Paranoia rising steady now lol.also unless it was made as an aquarium stand. I would not use it. 40 gallons is pretty heavy. You can pick one of those petco metal stands pretty cheap for a 40b
im probably not the best to ask lol. I am super paranoid about tank stands. when I built the stand for my 25 gallon, I went many multiples over based on a wood calculator i used.Paranoia rising steady now lol.
I think I may try to make it work. Going to brace it with some more plywood or something and also put some on the bottominside and under the bottom. .. didnt spend too much on this stand but id hate to by another right now. But also don't want to risk it.im probably not the best to ask lol. i've spilled 5 gallons on the floor before and that was a mess to clean up... I cant imagine 25 or 40
Lol I seriously thought about having some people or myself stand on it but yeah not very scientific with the weight distribution etc. Guess we will find out. If you see my next post as "tank stand failure" you'll know haha. Thank God for renters insurance.from the pictures you posted, it seems pretty sturdy. You could also go the old fashioned route of getting some big bois to come and stand on top of your stand to see if it will hold lol. Not sure how scientific it will be.
Can you tell if this is plywood or particle board. All seems like actual plywood to me because of the layer effect. But I'm no carpenter. The stand feels light. What's the stand constructed of, thickness and do you have any more images of the frame/construction inside, on the back, etc. (I don't have an answer for you, but those are bound to be followup questions asked)
