Why are my trochus snails dying?

Earlier this week one of my trochus snails died, had no clue why just fed him to my crabs and moved on, now my very active trochus snail randomly died last night. I noticed he hadn't moved overnight so I tested to see if he was holding onto the rock or not and sure enough he was loose and dead. Is there some parasite I should look for, any ideas why this is happening?

I got 2 on Sunday, July 26th both have died one died on Friday, the other died last night. I got 1 from a different lfs on Friday, he has not died yet.

No MG dosing. Only other things in there are two mithrax crabs.

oh, crabs, most crabs will not pass up escargot, even emeralds go rouge when hungry.

I banned every single crab in my system 5 years ago now.

People say they only eat bubble algae.
Simply not true.

No longer replacing anything now!

I have the same problem. Any algae eater snail gets eviscerated by my hermit snails, and my peppermint shrimp. It is what it is. I keep an small army of hermits now and they have kept any algae at bay.

I know it wasn't them the snails died in one piece. Also the dead snail is still in the tank and they haven't even touched it yet

Maybe you got unlucky and picked up a couple snails that were already in poor health.

I’ve found that trochus snails in particular benefit from a longer drip acclimation. They seem sensitive to adjusting to parameters in new tanks. And also, it is pretty common for snails and other inverts to go dormant for a little while when you add them.

Edit: also, any time you add new algae eaters, it isn’t a bad idea to put some nori in the tank for a little while. It’ll make sure they have food while they decide what they want to eat in your tank.

Edit: also, any time you add new algae eaters, it isn’t a bad idea to put some nori in the tank for a little while. It’ll make sure they have food while they decide what they want to eat in your tank.

I drip acclimated them for 3 hours so I think I'm good on that front, I'll pick up some nori next time I get snails.
