Maybe getting into the weeds a bit, but I work in biotech and we often need to degass liquids inline with an instrument for high throughput applications. The basic principal is to use vacuum while the liquid is flowing through a special gas-permeable tubing in a coil. I wonder if the same thing could be used to degass in-line with the RODI system… :thinking-face:

There are inline degass filters sized for well water (3m liqui-cell), the problem is the cost and need for a vacuum pump.

The one they were talking about installing on my well, when it was new, the pump at the bottom of the well, pumped the water into a de-gassing tank, it had an electronic float, to control the well pump, an air pump, vent pipe. Another pump fed the Well X Trol Tank and beyond to the house plumbing, it was extremely expensive, and there was a limit on the water supply. It was made to get Radon out of the water, also could participate other contaminants, which would be picked up by a media back flush type filter. All this was very expensive, to purchase and run. Thought our custom built dream home was going to turn into a nightmare. Look up Well degas systems.

One thing that I found to make DI resin last months is by having a bypass around it when turning on the RO unit for the first minute and flushing. All of that initial high tds goes to the drain and not into the DI resin.

Sure, but I wonder if there is a smaller scale version that would fit just upstream of the RODI system, in-line with the 1/4 inch RODI tubing between the saddle valve to the house water and the filter.

That is a bit different than the vacuum degass modules, but maybe a good bit less expensive.

There is, check the 3M data sheets. Still require a vacuum pump. I wou,d guess all in $2K or so. I fiddled with o e in a water testing g lab years ago. That is how I know about them.

I just came across this one which looks fairly simple and has an internal vacuum pump. Still maybe somewhat expensive, but could be worth exploring.

What is a system for my whole house to make my tds stay at 0? I use a separate cannister for the di resin on my 5 stage, under the sink system, but it doesn't even last thru a 40 gallon tote.
Why would you want to get your DTS to 0 for the whole house? That is a lot of waste water or else a lot of waste resin.

Lol it’s in the $10k range… not remotely worth it.
Wow that is insane!

Edit: I just found it for $4200. Still probably not worth it. I guess you could calculate the savings on DI resin to figure out how much would make sense to spend on this or a similar solution.

To get TDS of your whole house you will need a very high flow RO, basically wasted about 90% of the water then have DI resin.
How many hundreds of gallons of water does your household use in a day?
In addition to the cost of maintaining the RO system and DI resin, you also pay several thousand in water cost.
Why would you want to flush the toilet, cook, take shower wash hand, … with 0TDS water? Insane
The other end of the spectrum there are misinformed people who think drinking 0 TDS means instant death by rupture of all the cells.

Consumer knowledge is horrible for some people. So gullible.

We’re past that. The OPs problem turns out to be CO2 in the well water source which burns through DI resin very quickly. We have been brainstorming degassing solutions, but yet to find anything cost-effective or practical.
