Recently picked up a new zoa frag with one polyp. It opened within 24 hours but this is not something I have seen yet. Majority of the face seems to be masked by a white layer. The green arrow indicates a small area that is not covered by this white layer. Still new to the hobby so not sure if its anything or not.

Some blue/green strains like Hawaiian People Eaters (PE), Ding Dangs and Wonka berry varieties have a whitish sheen. You'll also see this in some of the agave family (Seductions for example). I see nothing to be concerned about with your zoa.

Nice little garden you've got started!
