Hey guys acquiring my new tank soon! Upgrading to a 125 gallon its,
72.5 x 18.5 x 23

I currently have two tanks both have aiprime 16hds.. I learned that with my new tank these wont be adequate combined still.

Im looking at either 32 or 64 hydra because of the ai prime controller ( I have the fans and lights all on one app) BUT if theres another light thats better and not more expensive please also let me know.

Which light and how many do I need? Is one enough? 2?

Thanks anyone who can guide me into new direction.

Why not radions? Depends on what type of corals. A 72" tank you will need most likely 3. Each light about 24" spread again though depends on what type of corals. Radions will get better spread than Hydra's. I would get 3 Xr15 G6 Blue or Pro whichever you prefer. which will give you enough spread to have any coral.

You can with 2 XR30 as well that should be enough.
Breakdown
Hydra 32 Spread 20"
Hydra 64 Spread 30"
Radion XR15 Spread 24"
Radion Xr30 Spread 36"

Hope that helps

Not if packing it with sps. Then you may want 4-6. 3 hydra64s would leave 2 big dim spots, on my 72" tank, if I didn't stuff 2 mh pendants between them... 30 something inches of coverage is very generous, for either fixture

I ran 6 noopsyche k7s over my 72x24x24" 180g. I've compared par between the k7s and gen4 xr15s and the k7s smoke the radions. I've read the gen 4s are stronger than the gen 5 and 6s. I also don't have lights turning on in the middle of the night when mobius decides to randomly change date and time.

Other than changing date and time on its own I have no complaints. I only use it for my vortechs now. Twice my lights were blasting in the middle of the night and that was two times too many. I wouldn't be so harsh but had not been an issue from the start and they have done nothing to correct it. Probably because it doesn't affect everyone so they don't care.
