Against my better judgment, I am getting a new long tentacle plate on Tuesday. Here's the beauty, one of these:

I asked for the smallest one,~0.5in diameter. Now I need to make space. What should I move?

(bonus: thick leopard wrasse!)
If the orange plate and the new plate can sit next to each other, I could try moving the charmander colony behind the rastas (they'll be cramped but they'll be fine I think), and the white zombies can get pushed further right a bit after cleaning up some of the monti pieces that are accidental frags but keep growing nonetheless. Behind the pectinia is low low light, and that's where the pectinia sweepers go anyway.

right side of tank:

On the right side, I've already moved those frags of birdsnest on the sand between the octo and the trachy, but that octo scares me a bit. On the other side near the torch is a lobo (octo blocking view). The only other sand in view is in front of the yasha/pistol cave, so you know that's a no-go.

What would be great is a mini magnetic mushroom box of sorts for temporary, unobtrusive residency. Wouldn't arrive by Tuesday anyway...

Ummm, I think you're full.
Beautiful tank :)
I've never has long term success with plates, but good luck!
I know. I couldn't resist. I've wanted a long tentacle for a long time, and this came by from a local with orange base and green tentacles.

Upgrade to the 83 gal happening in the next month or so!

Note: these plates that the guy is selling. They all exploded out of a dead plate he left in his tank. Don't throw away plates.

I ended up tossing my first plate. That one got a little bit of skeleton exposed and then got run over by algae. That was in my Evo. My current orange plate has been hanging in there, knock on driftwood.

Exactly what I was thinking! WHERE do you have room for ANYTHING else!!!!????
I've been holding my breath that everything survives until I can make the transfer over to the new 83 gal tank (current 40 gal), which gives an extra foot of length, about 5 inches of width and 8 more inches height. Slow going though, and meanwhile everything is growing on top of each other. No time for fragging either, at least not if I want to hit 20,000 R2R posts anytime soon (haha, shame, haha)!

OK. That makes sense. Did you end up getting one of those tanks that @VintageReefer was talking about? It was 83g as well.

And congrats on 10K posts! Dang. I'm only at 1600 and change!

This has generally been my experience although one time I had a resurrection from one that died.

I heard but haven’t researched the short life history of LT plates. Some have indicated that they are short lived, but not specifically mentioned a term in years.

Plate corals are amazing and quite diverse in terms of life histories.
