When one becomes two

Bubble tip anemones are regular splitters however, magnificas not as often.
I have had my magnifica about 3 years during which it trippled in size then just stopped growing.

Something strange then started to happen instead of it being round shaped it elongated often touching the rock next to it. I thought it might split but no it would retract back each evening only to stretch back during lighting hours.

This went on for a couple of months I gave up on it and just thought it was another of those things anemones do for no obvious reason. Imagine my surprise to find this morning it had split. One is a third of the size of the other. Mother and baby are both doing just fine

Very cool. What's interesting is that a few years ago I had one that split on me, and it was the same color morph--mauve with white tips. I'm wondering if some magnifica split more than others. In videos in the wild, I've seen some mags that are solitary, while others are like BTAs that have clones covering an entire area of the reef.
