It’s 1PM, the lights have already been on at full blast since 10 (and starting with blues and sunrise since 6 and 8AM), but my Tiger conch is still in the sand bed (He did stick out his proboscis and clean up a circle around himself).

He’s active (I haven’t been monitoring closely enough to see when he starts moving), but it seems odd to me that he’s not up with the sun when he still goes to bed at dark.

What’re your experiences with tiger conchs? Are they all like this, is mine insane, or is variation among individuals a thing?

Conchs are generally more active during the night. But all have their own routines. Mine will go several days without moving. I just see his eyes moving around or his trunk up and out. And then there are times where I swear he doesn't stop moving.

Mine has had me whipping out the Test Kits on several occasions. They behave strangely, found it upside down, on the Euro Brace, one time. Mine was very small when I got it, has tripled in size.

Forgive my green glass- but look at him- turns up to work at 2PM still wearing his pajamas! Any HR professionals in the house? I’m gonna need a performance improvement plan.

(I named him Roland, after the character in Schitt’s Creek, and I can’t imagine a better name for him—big personality indeed!)

Going to be honest from this picture your sandbed and rockwork actually looks a little sterile to me, other than some light diatoms. Might want to give him some algae pellets or little strips of nori every couple days if your tank is small.

My eight week old tank… too clean? Does that mean I’m doing something right? Photo from right now:

I have algae wafers, I’ll drop him one tomorrow if he sleeps in!

My fighting conch goes many days without coming out, then he will roam the tank for a few days, then go back to sleep for days at a time. This is his routine

Conchs are my favorite invert for their personalities and of course how useful they are. Mine named snuffleupagus seams to be active throughout the day but especially after 12 pm. Some times it will not move for many days and other days it will run laps around the tank.

Tiger sand conch that I've had for 3+ years across two tanks:
Mine is out during the day (mostly),,, up to him randomly,,, but will bury himself for week(s) occasionally and then just start cruising around again.

*my speculation is that he just cruises and eats, takes a break, continues, then decides he's full enough to take a LONG nap (burried)
