turbo snails
they trend to be large and may bulldozer a bit if your frags are not glued down properly - but they excell at algea
you only need a couple in most tanks - don't follow some crazy number per gallon thing

I'd say large Turbo snails as well, they eat some nasty type algae without too much complaining

i also live turbos but like said above they will push around your corals. sometimes its rather shocking the size of rock and coral they are able to move. on a good note thought. they will mow the heck out of the lawn

Do a bit of research on vodka dosing, it is basically used to lower nitrates and phosphates which are two contributing parameters concerning unwanted algae growth. IMO, you should find the source of your nutrient overload, not add more eating and pooping creatures (snails, crabs, etc.) to the scenario.

Lower nutrients is your best option it will eat all your algae...;) look into np pellets or vodka dosing

I agree with lower your nutrients.

The best critter for eating algae is a sea hair. But I agree lower your nutrients mainly phosphate. Try some phosphate remover first before carbon dosing. Phosphate is the limiting factor in algae.

Sea Hares will eat pretty much any type of algea in my experience. But they only eat algae so they'll die when it's all gone and can release toxins into the water.

I was just replying to what is the best type of invert to eat algae. I know people who have used them and passed them around. Honestly I dont suggest using any invert to control algae, eventually they all die. Inverts can help keep it controlled to some dgree but if the problem of exces nutrients is not taken care of it will always come back.

I totally agree Dave. You really need to get the root of the problem and stop it there are else you're just putting a bandaid on the problem.
