After a 2 year run of straight disasters, my tank is finally becoming stable... But my budget is low. Ive already ordered all my fish and will do coral. But thats not what I came to ask. I need a doser and most are way to high in cost. (GHL, Neptune, Ecotech, and the others). I know about Jebao but am a little scared because of the horror stories. If I am going to get one I want to know whats the difference between the DP-4 and the DS-4?

And thank you in advance

Bubble Magus and a few others make decent offerings. BRS offers a simple dosing pump that needs to be connected to some sort of timer. Some have built in timers and others are “slave” units, so check that out before making a decision. Also not that deals can often be had on the used market with a smidgen of patience.

Many, myself included have had good luck with jaboe dp4. I ran one for four years. Kamoer may be a good single pump WiFi option. Have yet to research them .

I have used the jebao for a couple of months and it does the job well, all you need is to calibrate it and you are good to go. You also cant beat the price.

Why not allocate that coral and fish $ to Better equipment and add livestock down the road
This is probably your best way to go. I completely understand staying on budget, but if there's one piece of equipment that can be the lifeblood of your tank, then I wouldn't necessarily choose the cheapest one. I used some BRS 1.1mL dosers on my 22g nano, but after some trial and error, decided to spend the money on a GHL and never looked back.
Just my two pennies and something to think about. Good luck and I hope you find what you're looking for.

+1 to GHL

Accurate dosing and incredible control.
0.1mL doses, literally two drips at a time

I tried a Jebao, but it's not very good at small doses. I've got a 32gal with a lid, so I only need a small amount. I can't dilute as I only lose about 40-50mL per day in evaporation...

I’m a big fan of the Kamoer X1. For $60 I ran 2 of them and they worked flawlessly. Never had an issue whatsoever.

I have run the Jebao DP-4 for 2 years now and only complaint is that I have had to calibrate it every 6 months and reset the clock the same time period. Otherwise, was a good investment for the $$. Now I have upgraded to the Kamoer F4 Pro.

Why “upgrade “ if it was working so well?

After researching the Kamoer and how easy it was to program via the App to where I wouldn't have to spend a lot of time adding programs to the Jebao, (I want the kamoer to dose over 24 hrs and App makes it easy).

I feel the jeabo is a ticking time bomb for most Reefers it’s appealing to. Most new Reefers tend to follow the idea that they will be the exception to the rule. You mentioned calibrating the Doser, this is something 99% of ppl (including myself) will not do. And my goal here is for ppl to not have tank crashes and leave the hobby because of it.

These Kamoer dosers are $59, reliable, can be calibrated and are controlled via a smart phone.
They even have optional reservoirs that message you when they are empty.

OK peeps thanks for the feedback and now I want to know, GHL vs Kamoer F4 pro

I am under the impression that the GHL cannot be mounted but I am sure I can work out a place to put it.

Correct, the GHL will require a shelf or something similar. Something to consider with the GHL, it gives you the ability to connect magnetic stirrers directly to the doser.

GHL is German engineering
Vs
Kamoer is Chinese

Fwiw,
Bubble Magus sells a shelf accessory for their multi doser, but you will need to check if the dimensions & weight are compatible.

My Jebao works great but only for larger volumes where accuracy is not needed as precise, air bubbles form no matter what i do.

I use three X1s and love them
