I'm planning to start a nano reef as my first adventure into caring for saltwater / brackish marine life, my two size options are 120l and 60l.

What would be the best stock, coral and basic knowledge needed to go about this. Anything helps!

Nano tanks are much like their larger counterparts, with two big differences being stocking and stability. Depending on the size of the nano, I wouldn't expect to add more than a few select fish. Monitoring stability is important with every tank, but things may start going south more quickly if your parameters get off. But Nanos are awesome; I've owned two. :)

I have a 20g nano. I started with a Yellow Watchman Goby and a Firefish. Then, after a few months, I added a pair of designer Pecula Clownfish. I wanted to try to minimize the possibility of aggression with the clowns, so I let the two gobies adjust to the tank before adding the clowns. No problems so far! I won't add anything else until I upgrade.

For coral, toadstools, mushrooms, and zoas. In my experience, all have been hardy.

Welcome to Reef2Reef and good luck! Don't forget to start your tank thread so we can follow the progress! :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:
