We listened to them all those years telling us Radions are the best, even before they owned Radions. If the product they are pushing are not good, don't buy them and they will stop selling them.

Basic supply and demand. If other companies can make products better than they do, consumer will buy them over theirs.

Lots of other places people can shop for goods. People choose BRS cuz they are usually better in terms of shipping, pricing, and ease of website navigation.
They own
Ever since BRS started we have had our product catalog constantly evolving with new items coming on and other items being discontinued. The decisions on what to keep, what to bring on, and what we no longer carry are impacted by many factors. Our current goals are to ensure we have room to carry the products that our customers want and need for their aquariums. As much as we wish we could carry every product, space is limited and we do have to make these tough decisions to ensure our product catalog is up-to-date with the hobby.
Understandable just a very big bummer to see you're no longer carrying orpheks new lights, ghl, reef octopus, hydros, geissman. All products I've purchased from you in the last couple of years.

You have become the Aldi of reefing supplies.

saltwateraquarium.com is a much better choice today and has been for awhile
You're not the first to say that in this thread. I am not going to lie, being 15 mins away from brs was such a huge selling factor to me for years. Not to mention getting to sneak a peek at Ryan's big tank and display sump in the lobby. I guess I'm going to have to start waiting for shipments again.

I had been a BRS customer for years but after the takeover and they started snubbing competition devices i took my business elsewhere. Ryan was a disappointment because he promised that would not happen. Of course that decision was made over his head.

I've spent more money at BRS that I'd like to admit but I'm not emotionally attached to any retailer. In fact I might even feel that they didn't do enough for consumers. Them being the biggest in the industry they had pull to bring prices down but instead happily went along with this stupid MAP pricing that has become standard for every product in this industry. This the only hobby I've been apart of where it doesn't really matter who you buy from because anything you buy is literally the same ridiculous high price everywhere. There is no competition in this hobby, Any new product is hardly ever a innovation but just something to sell at different price tier.

I'll be honest—I've spent a lot of money at BRF, but they are my last option. I'd choose premium aquatics, champion lighting, and supply or saltwateraquarium.com sooner. But, my ideal choice, where possible, is always my LFS - without them around, life is so much more difficult.

Yes this hobby is dominated by Bert/Coralvue, but the MAP pricing philosophy has taken over pretty much the entire branded retail sector, period. The days of finding some great deal on a product from your favorite retailer are gone… Thems the brakes

The BRS sale happened several years ago now so if the lines are being cut it’s obviously a longer term trend.
I know Ryan has been on sabbatical since spring time and I’ve missed the videos. The amount of effort put into them, especially the experimental ones was awesome. I can’t order from them but the good will the video series brought to the company was huge… even if you had to always remember which companies the new parent company also owned and take reviews accordingly! I still think the basis was solid.

Well my take is they’re kinda becoming the PetCo of reef supplies. As has been stated lots of things they don’t have a direct stake in are disappearing or becoming harder to get. Definitely a shame, cause when I started my reef experience just 3 years ago they were pretty much the place to get the majority of things you needed. Needless to say I’ve been expanding my purchasing options with Amazon being a good source of common supplies and amendments.

At CoralVue, ANY brick-and-mortar or online retailer is free to carry our products. Whether you operate a physical storefront or an online shop, you may have full wholesale or even distribution access to brands like HYDROS, Reef Octopus, Dymax, Fauna Marin, Abyzz, IceCap, and many more. We’re here to support all retailers, ensuring that end users are able to access the products they demand.

I heard from a reliable source that BRS was substancially behind on payments to CoralVue. Also they were selling CoralVue products they did not have in stock or even had placed orders for.
I heard from a reliable source that’s all rumor

Well apparently something happened behind the scenes...

Lots of stuff happens behind the scenes all the time. A “reliable source” is all relative.

We already know CV threw a fit when BRS discontinued Hydros and sold them below MAP.

To say BRS isn’t paying bills is pure conjecture and rumor. Likely started from the same source a lot of this drama starts from ;)
