Since the rock an the mortar are three separate colors I was hoping there was a paint gun or a technique that would leave the most professional finish.
Last time I mixed the mortar an acryl 60 untell the motor was a watery paint like substance and coated the entire scape the same color. But it ended up being a little more grey then I would like also fill in lots of textures.
Pics are all my recent scapes.

Why bother? It will all be the same color once biology takes over.

And it also seems counterintuitive to smother the porous rock with thin mortar. You want all that surface area.

Unless I missed that this isn't for a reef tank, I would fill nit with saltwater and allow it to turn color on its own.

Making a few of them a week and selling them at the LFS. It doesnt really look like a final product when it's all different colors. Spend a lot of time on them wish I could fetch a higher price. I feel like its all in the finish/color. My favorite rocks are from tank break downs cause they usually have the real rocks. Or they buy the expensive rocks not the basic marco. Usually always different colors but have some crazy shapes an coral skeletons to use.
