We all know coralline algae seems to attach itself to plastics fastest in an aquarium. But the question is which substrate promotes coralline algae growth fastest? From my experience it prefers ABS over all others.
I find it works great on abs I currently have 3 tanks with abs on the bottom. This tank was just started, this is @ 3 months. :)

What method did you use to secure the ABD to the bottom of the aquarium? Have you ever experienced an issues with anaerobic bacteria building up under the ABS? i understand the ABS can be siliconed down to the glass, in theory it would be possible to laminate it with silicone eliminating any dead space under the ABS.

People say it grows on plastic the fastest. While that may or may not be true, in my experience they grow just about everywhere ..even on my sand bed. Its just visually easier to it on glass and plastic. I have them growing in my sump ....even inside my skimmer. Literally everywhere.

I use aquarium silicone and a few weights for a couple of days. :)
