Hi all,

I have a180L Aqua One tank (150L tank + 30l sump)

pump is 2200L/hr (less for head height)

looking to increase flow in the tank.

what size wave maker / gyre would i be after ?

cheers

What's in the tank? I'm just wondering what the extra flow is needed for. :)
Hi,

plan is to start a seahorse tank. eveywhere i read it says 10x to 20x combined flow.

tank is 150L (40 gal). the current pump is rated at 2200L (580gal) but would obviously be less due to head height above the pump. so the pump alone is about 10x turnover.

i figured a wavemaker / gyre might be needed to help increase flow a bit

I was still in the old school mind thinking seahorses should have lower flow in the tank. That is not the way these days, I see. :)

I would be looking for a smaller powerhead such as the MP10. This one would also allow you to keep the cord out of the tank so the seahorses aren't hitching their tails to it.

I'd also use a cover such as this:

Here's another thread with seahorse flow discussion.
