Months ago I got what was supposed to be a couple blue legged hermit crabs from the LFS. One of them, I think, is something else. It has grown quickly and had to murder a nasarrius snail so it could steal its shell. The other day, this thing decided to totally devour two sizable trochus snails despite being fed 2-3x per week. I think it might be the one taking bites out of my favia, too, but I’m not sure as I haven’t caught anyone in the act yet.

Any idea what it is?

These aren’t blue legs. They’re black with a single long white stripe on them. It’s literally triple the size of the other actual blue legged hermit crab in the tank.

I forget the name but they are a more aggressive species. I’ve had them before.

I was thinking maybe the thin stripe hermit but those have multiple stripes and yours appears to have one per leg

I'm late to the thread, but that seems to be the Antillean Hermit Crab, Clibanarius antillensis. How big is it for you OP? The largest I've heard of was ~7mm shield length, so these should stay pretty small.
