It works similar to a carbon source. I didn't get cyno from it. I think those that do are because they are over dosing or not exporting algae die off. Dose to water volume not tank size. It systematically attacks weakest algae first. It can take a while for it to work depending on the severity. Be patient with it.

Whats your magnesium levels? Why dont you try taking that rock out and manually removing it.. and see if it grows back.. once you have taken it out then test your levels after a day. Sometimes algea can consume phosphates quicker than you can test so raising it might not be the way to go.. i had this issue and once i got my levels under control i manually removed as much algea as possible and never grew back after adding clean up crew too

Taking the rock would be tough and I really like the scape I don't wanna mess with that.
My mag is at 1400. Would the amount I have really be consuming that much Phosphates?

I also bought the Kent Marine Tech M, I read that if you raise your mag to around 1600 it will kill off the algae. Have you guys ever used that stuff? Obviously I'm not gonna dump in vibrant and kent, just wondering which one would be the best method.

You would be surprised... if you have hair algea you have phosphates.. try manually removing the hair algea off the rocks instead and your mag is ok so thats fine no need to tinker with those levels

The reason im telling you to manually remove it is because once algea gets to a certain length clean up crew wont touch it.. so remove it manually and then add some snails to keep it under control you will probably find your tang will then keep it under control too. No need to dose the kent m

Out of all the algae I've encountered this is the worst and that includes dinos. I've been dealing with turf algae for over a year now and nothing seems to be working and I've tried everything. From snails to chemicals and nothing beats this stuff. I've been staying on top of it by manually pulling some out when doing a WC but it grows right back. Started Vibrant again and will continue dosing and manually pulling some out for now and see how that goes. I really hate this stuff.

I moved that millie because it was getting smothered by the algae. The algae is covering all the exposed rock now.

Mine isn't long enough to even grab ahold of, that's why I tried a razor to scrape it off. It's like a fuzz.

Im not techy enough to explain the cyano. But the vibrant is a bacteria that outcompetes algaes. But once stopped the cyano takes advantage....theres a reaaaallly long thread on here about it.
And yes i would qt the blenny unless youhave a supplier who qts them before sale.
And im pretty sure the higher mag only works on bryopsis.

So I put my first dose of vibrant in today and my corals are looking super ticked now. Im not sure I like this, all their polyps have retracted and some have this stringy stuff coming off them now.

Its says to dose 1ml per gallon, so I did 70ml. I have a 75g but with rock and sand, I was thinking 5gallon for that?
It also said for dirty tanks you can dose 2ml per gallon. Do you know what the stringy stuff is on the corals?

I’ve dosed Vibrant along with carbon dosing for a couple of months and it removed the GHA in my tank. My corals and fish were never affected.
