What is this on my hammer coral

I was looking at my hammer and saw this little thin, brown looking protrusion. Does anyone know what it is and if it is bad for my coral, thanks for any help.

you can see it on the base, it is the black curved thingy

Can you get a pic of it under white light (even just by shining a flashlight on it)?

If not, look up "vermetid snails" and see if it's a match.

Here is a better photo is certainly looks like a vermetid snail. Will they damage the coral at all or are they pretty neutral.

Some species may irritate corals, others seem harmless; either way, most people would suggest removing any vermetids you find both because they may irritate corals and because they tend to spread invasively.
