It worked! I glued his base to a tiny piece of PVC, since I didn't have anything better. Thanks for the advice everyone!

Nice job give it med flow and med to Lowish light and it will be happy. I broadcast a small amount of reef roids and aminos once or twice a week for my alve and Goni’s. I hope it does good for you

What an amazing bit of luck! I would be thrilled if I were so lucky.

I'm happy you spotted the little colony, and now can enjoy the "two for one" deal.

I, for one, would like to see updates on this coral, so if you haven't, I would encourage you to start a build thread so folks like me can follow along.

Hey that'd be fun - how do I do that? Just start a thread under "Member Tanks" forum?
That's it. And there is a couple of extra steps to get the badge, but someone else will have to chime in on that one - I can't remember exactly how to do it...

Found another bonus-something on this frag I found the alvopora on! It's a set of about five (that I can see) little "fans". Got the best pic I could - they're super tiny, but I can see that they have a "fan" of tendrils which close up when light is absent. When I turn the light on, they unfurl within ~15 seconds. I've circled them below. Any ideas? These ones are WAY too tiny to transplant, so I think they're staying put. :)

Those are little feather dusters. I have a couple in my tank as well, they have been completely harmless :) usually this one only comes out at night but I can sometimes get a quick pic in the morning before the mushrooms fully open up.
