I’m interested in what corals there are out there and what people perceive as the strangest / most alien kind. If you have pictures that would be appreciated. I’m interested in what the hobby has found and what is deemed to be the most alien. Thanks

This is the alien anti-venom favia. Maybe not too weird but alien in the name, so had to post. Very bright and contrasting color scheme

Honestly most softies and LPS coral in a tank running super high blues looks pretty alien to me. Super cool looking, but personally I prefer a more natural look in my own tank. I think some of the chalices are pretty alien “ooze” looking. The way they grow makes them look like they are slowly flowing over the rock and they come in some really wild color combos.

Found these on here. Credit to @SR Reefing and @Jason Truong if they are still around here…

What are the names of the acan, Goni, and plate coral? Also where did you get those from? They look really cool.

What are the names of the acan, Goni, and plate coral? Also where did you get those from? They look really cool.
The acan I recently got from BSA. He recently got a ton of Asian acans in. Way more than what’s on the website. It’s unnamed Asian acan as far as I know. I worked with him over text and told him to surprise me and pick a few random nice ones out for a price we agreed on. He told me he would hook me up and not let me down. Everything he picked was fire

The Goni is rare, slow growing and very sensitive. The hobbiest friend I got it from sells frags occasionally. I don’t know of anyone besides me and him that have been able to keep it successfully. He has the only parent colony in the world. The vendor he got it from lost their parent colony, reached out to him to buy a frag back, then they lost that also. This was 6-7 years ago. Someone on here really wanted one and finally I set them up with the owner of the parent colony, he bought a frag for $250, and it didn’t survive long term. It’s not a coral I recommend to others. I have trouble with it also sometimes.

The plate is an insanity plate I post some links to it here

I’ll steer clear of that Goni then. Will try to get the acan once I establish my tank. Same with the plate. Thanks for sharing and amazing corals!
