There are a lot of different kinds of fish, some that are amazing, others that we might find odd. Maybe it is the appearance of the fish that is weird, or maybe they have an odd personality. I am wondering what is a fish that seems weird to you, or do you have a fish that you think is weird or acts different from a normal fish.

Dori!!! My Blue Hippo Tang is right out of Finding Nemo. Just about everything she does seems a bit odd for a fish. The funniest is when she was small, there is a small crevice in the rock where she would slide in and hide. She’s twice as big now and still thinks she’s hiding, but she sticks out in all directions while she’s “hiding” In that little crevice.

There are lots of weird fish out there --- Just look at a Mandarin Goby - A psyhedelic fish - How weird is that?

But for me weird, cool and enjoyable has been keeping dragon faced pipefish. These guys are such a great addition to a mature reef tank. They are active, they reportedly (not that I have ever seen) eat red bugs, they slither along the rocks. They don't bother anything and except for gorrilla crabs or a sticky carpet anemone - everyone leaves them alone.

Getting a pair is really enjoyable. They are quick to bond. And will travel the tank constantly together.

With my previous tank I had a large surge tank. They would go to the top of the rock work and wait for the surge to start and then swim into the surge and ride it across the tank.

My coral banded shrimp… shes weird! Only will hang out in a cave and stick her claws out for food or to snap them at other shrimp… thought she was supposed to be a bully but doesnt act like a coral banded shrimp at all, kinda looks like she thinks she might be a pistol shrimp lol

Anglerfish. It's a true oddball in the hobby. They barely move and are camouflaged in drab, mottled colors with the intention of looking like a boring rock. They're the anti-tang. It's the exact opposite of what most reefers want in a fish yet most reefers think they're the coolest thing ever. Every time I see one at the LFS I think, "Why would anyone want one?" until realizing I want one too.

I always forget you can keep those cause my mind goes to the ones that are found in the deep parts of the ocean haha

LOL, I kinda went for 'tried and true' when I chose fish so don't really have anything weird or unique. I do love the way my barnacle blenny darts out of his coco worm tube at lightening speed to grab food. It's like Sonic the Hedgehog in the fish world.

Never got a video of it, but my starry blenny (Mr. Scatman) would spit sand and water out of the top of my rimless tank. He passed away late last year after I had had him for a long time :(

I’m upgrading my tank now, but starry blenny is the first fish on my list to add.

I have a moroon clown that I call big girl AKA the assassin. She is really protective. She is behind the anemone.

Never seen that kind of fish before!!!
I love the things...but they will try to eat anything that they think they can fit in their mouth. The two I've seen in real life both choked to death trying to eat other fish (tankmates) that were too big for them to swallow.

Those are awesome. What other fish do you keep them with?
