Hi all! I’ve got a question for the community. I currently have 2 male disbar anthias and 1 female. This obviously was not done on purpose, I ordered 2 female and 1 male and when they came in it was hard to tell who was who.. It kinda looked like I had one female one male and one half male… well 6 months later I definitely have 2 males and 1 female. Thus far they honestly are doing great together… They nip at each other once in a blue moon but they are pretty peaceful for the most part. They are very well fed so that probably helps. I was Just wondering if anyone has kept a trio like this long term? I was considering purchasing 2 or 3 more females but am unsure if it’s a good idea to add more disbars to an established trio. Any input would be great!
Hum depending on the size of the tank you might be able to add more females to make a harem and keep their attention off eachother? Im not sure Ive always seen to keep one male per however many females lol.
male fish are randy hounddogs with a one-track mind. One male can easily badger a female to death. Thats why fish harems have only one male and lots of females.
Two males will quickly destroy a female, if they don't destroy each other first.
Ain’t broke. Why fix it? Six months seems a better gauge then what another might think. Adding more anything always risky. Unless more wanted then I’d stay the course and let them tell me what’s next which may end of being a pair. May not. Fish don’t read books or the internet.
