Hi fellow reefers, do you know what happened to my sea anemone (see attached picture)? It looks like it split into two with the juvenile one on the top. I only have one in my tank, and I know it can breed asexually. Is it breeding?

Thanks

Thank you all. Will the new nem find its own territory in the tank?

It’ll move when it’s ready to. These splits are kind of funny in that they’re not necessarily 50:50 splits. The nem grows a new mouth and splits and this sometimes means odd looking little nems that then grow and are totally fine. I’ve had some split and stay right next to each other and then I’ve had one that decided to go all the way to the opposite side of the tank. Very temperamental.

If it is happy where it is, it will stay put. Otherwise yes, yes it will. They dont mind being next to each other though. This all started with 1. I have pulled probably 20 over the years, still have prob a dozen on that island.
