The best and only protein skimmer your LFS would carry back in the day

Bonus points if you actually succeeded at getting skimmate

If this is the one with the air stone then yup! Been there on my first tank.

worked great, as long as you replace the gunky airstone twice a day!

I used one of these like 20 something years ago, and to be honest, it wasn’t that bad. Super loud and needed adjusting frequently, but it pulled out some thick, dry skimmate.

The brs media reactor. Bought it for carbon or gfo but keeping the flow from clogging up was giving me headaches. I cut open the bottom, removed the screen up top and now it’s a solid live rock reactor.

I had one that came with my first tank so basically a no name brand.
Never saw skimmate, directly to the garbage.

I never got the chance to try that skimmer. But, I did have one of the Red Sea Prizms back in the day.
Absolutely terrible skimmer. I remember mine cracked and leaked out a ton of water behind the tank; Right where I couldn’t immediately see. Also never skimmed anything other than a green tea colored skimmate.

Before I had the Seaclone skimmer, I had one of these:

It was worthless as a protein skimmer. Also incredibly loud and tons of microbubbles. At least the Seaclone pulled out some decent, dry skimmate, this just pulled out clear saltwater.

Classic!
And one many of us were foolish enough to buy back in the day
Yup, its nothing more then bottled calcium.
How about this universal "reactor"? Insert product name for the application.

I actually have one for carbon, lol. It was a freebie with some other used stuff I bought. It does the job!
