There are acceptable ranges for all three of those and they are all listed on the link that Murfman posted above. When testing alk, you generally don't want it to swing from the low to high points of that range. My alk generally stays around 8 or 8=9 so it only swings 1 dkh. The other two are more forgiving if the particular parameter swings from the high to low.

like paul said alk is the main one to worry about... it's the biggest thing that can kill sps next to temp swings and no flow..

Once balanced out they all should drop together.

With the diy system you measure only alk then dose when alk drops down. And after time you have dosed a gallon of the calcium and alk mixtures so you add 300ml or so of the magnesium mixture.

But that is only true after the first initial dosing to get calcium, alk, and magnesium "correct".

I have an apex hooked up to some dosing pumps, so what should I set them to? I was thinking of 48 times a day for cal and alk (every 30 min), but i'm pretty sure i heard that coral use these up at different times of the day.

I will also run a fuge at night to keep the ph up.
