Here are a couple of my best shots LOL.
This tends to be how most of my shots turn out, one of two ways:

Or this:

What do you all think I am doing wrong?

Thanks for any input,
Steve

I mean, if I had to choose from those two I would say the blue one. However, a simple fix that may work for either one of those would be to try and use the white balance option on whatever picture program you have on your computer and see if that fixes anything. Also, like I said in the other thread, try to fool around with your white balance on your camera if you can. Take a bunch of different shots, and change the white balance and all that each time until you find what looks best to you.

I am sure some other photogurus will chime in as well here and help you out

I agree with setting the white balance. If your camera has the feature to adjust white balance, do it. It could be done by putting a white pvc in the tank when all your lights are on and then take a picture of the pvc using the white balance feature.

was bord. 3 layer remix from both images. each image overlayed top each other. each pic got a smart photofix "one click white balance". third layer was just a white background. the two pictures set to have some trasparant to them so they blend together.

What kind of camera are you using? Like everyone was saying, check the manual and see how to adjust the white balance. Use the custom option if it has one, that will get you pretty close. Try to avoid doing the correction after the shot and shoot in RAW if possible. The better the original image, the better it will look in post processing.

i did that in what was jasc paint shop now coral paint shop. way cheeper then photoshop and does just as much when it comes to photos.

"That is almost dead on." i dont have the coral infront of my so it was guessing for the most part.

OK, Got a new camera. A Nikon Coolpix S50.

This thing is awesome.

Here are a few of my first pics:

These are just my first attempts. I have a lot to learn still, but I think they are MUCH better.

What do Y'all think?

nice, i definately agree the pictures look good especially for the first time. I googled your camera and it has a macro feature see if you find it and try it out. Also try and use a tripod with either timer or remote to take picture.

Thanks IBM,

I will read my book and check those ideas. Like I said, I have a lot to learn still.

Thanks for the advise,
Steve

I think most important setting now is white balance, and macro feature.
