Hi everyone I want to know what the best wave maker is for a 15 gallon tank. I have 2 clown fish in there now but i want to add an anemone and some torches. But i feel like the wave maker that I got from the hello reef kit is way to strong my clowns even look like there struggling a little but i was hoping for someone to recommend one that u can adjust the speed. thanks

Congrats on the new system!

It looks to me that the included pump is the SICCE Voyager Nano 1000 Wave Maker Flow Pump 270 GPH - is that accurate? If so, it appears that there is no controller which would allow you to "tune down" the power or set different flow modes.

2 options that I think would accomplish your goal:

  1. set the included pump tilted upwards towards the surface of the water at 45 degrees or so. This will create surface agitation, and lead to more gentle and dispersed flow through the rest of the tank. You can also replace the return pump nozzle with a random flow generator to add more varied flow to the system without extra pumps (something like this: https://amzn.to/3Ya0tUO
  2. Replace with included powerhead with a proper controllable wavemaker. The hygger nano is a great option; you can control both the power and flow pattern: https://amzn.to/4eOXu9z

I use 2 sicce voyager nano's in my 15 gallon. I love them, because they don't shoot a stream of water straightforward like other powerheads do, they give a very wide flow thats not too strong. The 2 powerheads provide perfect water movement in 15 gallon softie tank (mostly mushrooms and zoa's)

In a 10 gallon tank, I have an inexpensive Hygger wave maker I got off of Amazon for 20 bucks….you can’t adjust the flow, but I have some smaller clown fish in that tank and they all seem to be doing just fine.
