Tested this morning and we have ammonia 0 nitrite 0 and nitrate 20. I’m going to do a water change on Friday, what is mb7?

Welcome and thanks for joining!

Microbacter 7 is a mix of beneficial bacteria to help"mature" a tank even past the nitrogen cycle. Good idea that at will do no harm and some folks spike mature tanks with it every now and then

agree that a water change will help. I for one would consider first adding a hermit or 2 and a few Nassarius snails and feed them "fleshy" seafood (tiny shaving of frozen shrimp or scallops" and let the tank go for another 2-3 weeks. Dont let uneaten food go too long

In the early days it was easier to accept an invertebrate loss than a fish, and till today, everyone of those hurts.

Good luck and slow and steady wins the race....

Welcome to R2R! I would take @bnord's advice and start with an invert or two. Your cycle now seems to be completed but that doesn't mean it can handle much of a bio-load yet. Start slow. Also the advice you asked for in your first post should be clarified. It is usually advised to not pay much attention to the Nitrate reading until the Nitrite reading is at or at least very close to zero, The reason is that most test kits will give a false reading for Nitrate in the presence of perceptible Nitrites.
