So last night I noticed Corals alive but closed up. This morning they were all closed and some extremely pale. Fish are all acting normally. Did 50% water change, and wasn’t noticing improvement so I was looking for an equipment failure or reason for the tanks appearance. There was some algae build up my grounding probe so I went to clean it off and it electrocuted me! Found the culprit, old wavemaker under a rock structure, one to the wires disintegrated, like an inch long section. Thinking I at minimum have removed the electrical discharge into the tank, but I may have a little copper/metal contamination. Any thoughts on how to proceed here?. Going to do another 50% water change when it’s up to temp, but I’ll take any advice. Hoping most of my coral survives as it’s literally all mature colonies.

Sounds like you removed the stray voltage culprit and you have a ground probe so I'd say you're clear,,, unless I missed some other concern.

Do you think the copper or whatever metal was in the section of wire that disintegrated enough to contaminate the water? I’m hoping I clear out enough with water changes. As it’s Christmas I don’t think I can get a poly filter for two days anyways, but I do have enough salt and rodi to completely replace the tank water if necessary.

Good question -- no idea.
"Feels" unlikely to be significant to me unless we're talking about a lot of exposed wire for a long time,,, but I don't know anything for a fact.

Update- disaster. The wavemaker failure ended up killing like 25lbs of chalice, montipora and acropora…. I needed a reset on the tank because I was out of room but I wish it wasn’t like this. Fortunately, most of my euphillia, scolies, sinulara, softies and my giant rbta all survived. Also lost a fox face and hawk fish but my tangs all survived. When I’m done crying I’ll post a before and after shot.
