Hey folks , I’m one of the people who couldn’t resist the waterbox labor day sale and purchased a new Infinia 230.6 tank. It’s a 180 gallon tank with internal overflow and a 50 gallon sump. This will be my third addition to my reef family. I also have a 100 gallon IM ext 100 and a waterbox cube 20 which are both mixed reef tanks. I was planning to start this build at the end of this year but with waterbox sale and some sales going on for other equipment I decided to get it started sooner.
Compared to my 100 gal this tank is a beast and with the sump being all glass it is heavy enough to require 2 people to lift it. The display took 4 strong guys to get it put on the stand.
For lighting I am going with 3 Orphek Natura icon lights. I built a custom tslot mount which allows me to adjust the height and move the lights forward or back to perform tank maintenance. There’s also room to add more lights or light bars if needed.
My mixing station , auto top off reservoir and dosing pumps will be located in the basement so I am able to utilize the entire space next to the sump for a wiring cabinet. All of the controllers will mount on the front of the cabinet with all the wire management inside the cabinet.
This past weekend I got the tank placed on the stand and finished building my mixing station
I am waiting on some metric pvc parts to arrive today so I can make the modification to the drain pipe to lengthen (to reduce the flow noise everyone complains about with it being too short) as well being able to connect to the roller mat. For equipment I am going with the following
Lighting: 3 Orphek Natura Icon
Return Pump: Sicce Syncra SDC 9
Skimmer: Reef Octopus Elite 200-INT
Filtration: RedSea Reefmat 1200
Power heads; 2 Maxspect Gyre XF350 pumps with a Hydros LE wave engine.
Heater: BRS titanium 600 watt with InkBird controller
Main Controller: Apex A3 Pro with DOS pumps for dosing and auto water changes.
ATO: Apex ATK ( using this on my other tank for several years now and it works great)
My plan is for this to be an SPS dominated tank with mainly anthias, tangs, wrasses and some other utility fish.
I’m hoping to start filling the tank up with water and sand this weekend. More updates to follow, thanks for following along and any feedback is welcome!
