Hi All,
I have started my journey to create a little slice of the ocean. I have not yet received the tank, but that has not stopped the buying spree. I have been saving for a while in anticipation. This is what I have ordered...

1- #Waterbox 75.2 with white cabinet. I wanted black, but the tank was on clearance and they were out. Should be here by Friday (I hope).
2-Ecotech Radion XR15W Pro Gen4. with mounts. I could have got one XR30W and that appear to be plenty, however, I was reading I would have to modify the cover of the spillover box which is in the center back of the tank. With two I can split and put one on either side. Besides, isn't 2 better than one?
1-Bubble Magus Curve 5 Elite - It is rated for a slightly larger tank, but I did not want to be undersized either. It is brand new on the market so I guess I am the guinea pig.
1-Apex "WIFI" Controller System - This was a gift (thankfully) and I am real excited to play with this! I am a gadget geek and this is right up my ally.
1-Apex WXM Expansion module - Lights please [emoji4]
1-Apex WAV Single Pump - It integrated with the Apex so more bells and whistles.
1-Apex MPR Magnetic Probe Rack - Why not?
1-Flipper Algae Magnet cleaner - I just liked the sales video and thought it looked fun, not that cleaning algae isn't fun already [emoji6]

I am sure there are other gadgets and things to buy, but it will have to wait a bit so I can heal my financial wounds.

The only thing I have received so far is the Magus. Stuff is going to be trickling in over the next week. It is like Christmas in July!

Wish me luck on my journey... or send cash as I spent my dinner money on reef gear. Oh well, it could be worse.

I will post pics when I get more stuff.

Tom

Ok, I am getting excited. The tank arrives tomorrow and I can’t wait. In the mean time the preparations continue. I purchased a 5 stage RODI from BRS along with Red Sea Salt, the blue bucket after watching one of the BRS vids. I also decided on dry rock / wet sand combo to start. I purchased 50 pounds of rock from Marco Rocks. I figure I can always seed with a couple live rock if needed. I am in no hurry and I liked the price point of dry.

That’s it for now. I will post tomorrow with unpacking pics.

The tank arrived today. I was a bit apprehensive since there are a couple of other threads that had quality problems (i.e scratches) with their waterboxes. When the delivery arrived there was a some damage to the packing crate and I was worried.

To my surprise and a testament to the packaging, there was no damage. In fact there we zero scratches to my delight.

The build of the stand went well in spite of the poor instructions.

Here is the final product.

Did yours come with a cover for the sump? I've read in the past they did, but also read that they don't...
I have one in the crate in the garage, doing some cleanup before I let myself set it up. Following with interest!

Yes. The cover was included. I did not get a pump or ATO though. No big deal as I wanted to choose myself anyway.

Hi all, spent yesterday evening setting up the EcoTech lights and other odds and ends as I wait for more stuff to be delivered.

The Apex came today and I need advice where to mount. Can I mount the controller where the sump is at up high an out of the way? Are there any issues since that area I suspect will get humid?

I am thinking on the side of the cabinet on the right.

Mounting outside the cabinet will interfere with the clean looks. Any thoughts?

Cool. I have a Tunze ATO I was going to use anyway, and I didn't think it came with a return pump. I've used this Tunze for years so I'm confident in it.

Ok, after reading several threads, it was not much more clear where to put the Apex controller. Since I seem to remember water and electric don’t mix, I opted to mount outside of cabinet so as not to be close to the sump.

I am lucky that I live close to an IKEA, so I headed over to the store to see if I can find a cabinet half way decent. I found a bathroom cabinet that look like it might work. It was less than $100 so I bought one and brought it home. I have spent most of the day putting it together.

I think it turned out pretty good if I do say so myself.

Next is to get water in the tank. Waiting on RODI unit which should come on Tuesday.

Until then,
Tom

I am about to also look at getting this tank, do you like the drain set up? and is the plumbing 1" SCH 80?

The drain setup is a standard Herbie, and seems well put together. I don't have water in mine, however. I like it so far.
The plumbing is, I believe, metric. It doesn't matter unless you want to change it; the return is soft-plumbed and the tube will stretch over a standard hose barb on the return.
Using the tank without the plumbing (ie - changing everything) may be hard because the three holes are pretty close together; not sure standard bulkheads would fit.
