hey y'all, i have just completed the cycle on my first 20 gallon saltwater tank. i've added cuc and a peppermint shrimp, and next week im going to add a pair of clownfish, i know it's recommended to do a water change every two weeks. should i begin that two week process now? or wait until the fish have been added? thanks!

I say yes. If you're cycle has completed and you're ready to add fish, I would do a water change just before adding the fish.

Best of luck with your 20 gallon tank!

True but the statement is probably a bit confusing to those just starting the hobby
I know, apologies

Should see how often I would recommend water changes on a new system, and how much. Thankfully, I don't recommend that

I confuse those who have been in the hobby for a very long time, as well. Sometimes

No apology needed. A while back I suggested folks use the search feature before asking what should be simple questions but I was reprimanded for that. ;)

Are you monitoring nitrate?

While I am a fan of regular water changes, I think the water change specifically after cycling is a hold over from days when folks were trying to minimize nitrate, and I would not treat it as any special situation needing a water change.
