I bought a nice rock, full of FL rics... I counted 7-8 different color morphs in the rock... they are just awesome to photograph with the underwater camera... I hope to find a nice purple, yellow, and pink color morph to add to the mix... do those morphs even exists? anyway, here's some eye candy...

here's the shot of the rock shortly after putting it in the tank...

Looks like a nice created rock. Welcome to a whole new addiction! If you wanna trade some sps I have a lot of ricordia on hand. ;]

True purple doesn't exist, just very dark blue and rare blue mixed with rose polyps.

Ricordia are great. They were one of my very first corals. Hearty and colorful!

Maybe they are purple under actinic lights. ;p I've seen tons and tons of ricordia, never any true purple not like you see with yumas. True red, hot light pink, and purple ricordia I have yet to see.

You made a great find there with that many colors on the same rock. Great pictures, what type of camera are you using? Thanks for sharing.

I have seen true purple, didn't start out that way though. They were a grey color kinda drab. After a couple months they turned grap koolaid color....

Your all done Marv, you shouldn't have done that......You didn't need another addiction.

Thanks guys... I appreciate the kind words... I couldn't resist the look of a grownout & rock full of FL rics... just plain awesome... I don't think FL rics morph as much as other corals like z's/p's or lords... am I right to assume this? :)

That is true Marv they don't like other corals, but can based on water temp and intensity of lighting at least in the wild. I have only had a few morph which could mean one of two things. A. the original color was not the true color or B. The water temp and lighting caused a change or caused the polyp to color shift to adapt to conditions. The ones I was talking about most likely were not the true color until they got in my tank and settled for a few months. So far out of all of the rics I have they have stayed the same color but a few have intensified but did not morph actual color of the polyp.

Great find Marvin. I've always been a huge fan of ricordia shrooms.
