I'm with you, but I'm buying one to test. I need to know.

Thanks, @Reef Puncher. I know Luca and we chat often. I also know the goodies he's working on, but that's for later.
did ya try the dimmer? also, Taricha told me you have results of biomics somewhere? can i see them? i posted a question "which bottled bacteria is best and does anyone have any biomics results?"

I tried the dimmer on Luca's Quanta Pros. It works well. Also tried it on an AliE bar. That didn't work.

I replied to the other post.

I'm sticking with even if it works its "wrong" with unknown effects to the driver.
I need some "science" behind this.

To add some info here though what are the 2 drivers?
Quanta is constant current x to y volts, z mA if I remember correctly.
Alie straight constant voltage ie 24V DC or constant current?

I'm not recommending the dimmer's use. Just stating that it did dim the Quanta Pro bar.
I know.

Was more curious as to how it behaved to the ali bar and what type of driver.

All I come up with is it cycles the AC side of the driver thus cycling the dc side.
BUT I see just problems like due to capacitors and lag in the circuit the dimming will not be constant.
And turning a driver " off" ( assuming it isn't actually brown outing it so to speak) 60 (120) times a second just doesn't sit well for some reason. Just spit balling here.
I have an electronics forum I visit occasionally
Will attempt to get some ideas.

Some of the "ideas".. Not saying anything applies btw

Some devices, especially the really cheap ones, can be smoked by "Chopped-AC".

"Chopping" the AC can create all sorts of
nasty "Spikes" and "Hash" that can damage unprotected Electronic-Circuitry.

It can also "broadcast" RF-Noise into other nearby Electronics.....

.What seems to happen is that at a low voltage the power supply doesn't start, from about 160V to 255V they run as normal, and somewhere in the middle they will strobe as the power supply starts and stops on its UVLO settings. Starting up is the most stressful time for a power supply.

Here's a not so good pic with the Kessil added. It's jury rigged as I'm waiting on the mount and the Radion lenses. In person, the shimmer is amazing and it washes the blue fantastically. Water is cloudy too. My skimmer is breaking in (microbubble city). Radions are on AB+ at 80%.

EDIT: Unfiltered Pics

Radions only (AB+ @80%)

I used a Kessil arm mount. Its hard to get a good picture representation but the Kessil makes a huge difference.
