Hi,

Have been giving my sambo (Swedish for live together girlfriend) about her ability to kill her plants, compared to growth in the reef tank :)

We've come up with a competition to both pick something to grow (not in the reef tank), and see who can grow the best thing.

I have an extra AI Prime HD I won't be using. Has anyone ever used a reef tank LED for growing indoor plants outside the reef tank?

(as someone not into growing indoor plants, any suggestions welcome:) I only know she picked something we can eat. So something edible be ideal :D)

Yes, I used an spare reef light to grow cilantro and tomatoes. AI prime can definitely grow these.

It should work considering zooxanthellae and plants both have chlorophyll A and have the same range of light they like.

I grow carnivorous plants (pitchers, sun dews, venus fly traps, etc.) and used a BuildMyLED LED strip (blue/white combo). Not only did the plants grow well (better than those outdoors) but they also developed reddish protective pigments (such sort of xanthin, I suppose.)

thanks for the replies! I figured it would work, but didn't see any results in a quick search :)

Now I just need to decide on what to grow.. preferably something she wouldn't normally think we could grow indoors here :)

I'd love to know what settings you all used as well. I'm about to use my two Prime HD+ lights for some sort of temporary indoor plants.

Stay away from citrus as if you don’t get mature ones, they won’t fruit this year.
If you go to Home Depot or similar and buy any herb or tomato/pepper plant you’d have to try to kill them. Just need light and water. If you want a guarantee win buy Rosemary. You can eat it and you’d almost have to set it on fire to kill it.
