I currently have a 10 gallon AIO. I am upgrading tanks to a 33 gallon, with a 10 gallong sump.
I used to buy already mixed saltwater(redsea coral pro) at my LFS for my 10 gallon, This tank is currently sitting at 8.3 Dkh.
So for my new 43 gallon tank I bought the same salt and mixed it up already and have it in my new tank. (Nothing in this tank yet, just a pump circulating water.) This tank is at 11 Dkh. I am getting new salt as I want to have a dkh around 9.
I want to get this new tank 'cycled' using established rock/filters. Can I bring over filter floss or rock from my old tank to my new tank with the alkalinity difference? Will this kill the beneficial bacteria? Or do I need to match the alkalinity first in order to not kill off the bacteria?
