Try two teeth extracted. Sounds like some of us have had Monday for a Friday. Good thing Saturday is tomorrow except for @najer it's already Saturday. Cheers Mate.

Update time!

Tank uglies... Lots and lots of tank uglies. Diatoms have gripped the tank by the genitals and are not letting go. They are everywhere including the water column. We did a 10 gallon water change today with half fresh mixed salt water, and half water from the old 10g refugium that I just shut down. It was crystal clear the whole time it was running, so maybe there's something that can help us out in there.

So, here's a before pic...

Are you running gfo cac?
I have none in the tank, but I'm thinking of loading up a filter sock with a bag of GFO and ROX in a stocking. I need a reactor, bad. I do have a clump of chaeto in the fuge now. Water has a very brown tinge.

The gfo will bond the silicates out of the water. You can use it in bag on the return pump. Same with the Gac. It's worked pretty well for a lot of folks.

I got my first reactor finally after 8 9 years.
Meh.

Has the water got a smell?

Clean brown is good. Diatoms gfo
Dirty or sour brown is not great. Organics rotting. Gac.

Honestly it doesn't have a strong odor. I have to get on top of the tank or in the sump to smell it. Smells like the pukani, so I'm guessing it's just built up dead organics...

How much GFO and GAC do you recommend?

I'd bet it's the diatoms then.

Your using it pretty passively , so a couple tablespoons of gfo.

5-6 of the gac.

I finally got around to finishing my dosing containers. I have probably less than $5 invested in each one. They are 800ml(weird European water measurements) Voss (weird European water that tastes like dirt) water bottles. They are glass, so we don't have to worry about any chemicals leaching from any plastic. I took a 3/4" hole saw and made the hole for the bulkheads. Next I took a 5/64" drill bit and made a small hole right next to the bulkheads to keep them from getting vacuum locked. Then we took our 1/4" acrylic tube and scored it to length, then snapped off the excess. The whole project took me approximately 5 minutes to complete.
