Hey guys, never done a build thread. I'm getting ready to start up a IM 14g peninsula nano, and I thought I would share my progress with you.

I bought this tank because because I had purchased a Biota coral beauty angelfish online, not realizing exactly how small it is. I thought, "Ok, 1⅛" fish, that should be about the size of my thumb." No, it's the size of my thumb nail. She is absolutely beautiful and has bright orange and yellow sides with cobalt blue fins.

The sad part is, my female clownish absolutely will not coexist with her. I had a disaster the other week and had to remove most of my rock from my 75g to catch the angel and rig up my home made fish cage/acclimation box. My clownfish had bitten a huge chunk out of the angel's tail.

The good news is once within the protection of a two liter bottle with lots of holes for water flow(I have a return nozzle pointed directly at the bottle and the holes allow just enough water flow to keep fresh water inside the bottle but not now around the fish.) The angel is recovering very well and eating herbivore flakes, mysis pellets and little pieces of frozen mysis like a champ. The tail is growing back out very nicely and I expect within a few weeks it'll be completely healed.

I plan on setting this tank up for an SPS dominant system. Acros, montis, stylos, pocis... It's probably going to sit as a FOWLR for a little while until I get everything I want. I'm picking up cured live rock from a LFS so the tank should be fish ready instantly.

Have list:
~IM Nuvo Fusion 14 peninsula
~20lbs Fiji pink sand
~RO/DI water from my unit
~Red Sea coral pro salt
~75w Cobalt Neotherm heater(arriving Monday 5-22-17)
~IM APS stand for Nuvo 14(arriving Wednesday 5-24-17)

Want list:
~Kessil A80 with spectral controller and gooseneck
~IM media basket with carbon and GFO
~IM ghost protein skimmer
ATO of some sort, possibly the IM

Ok enough talking, I know you want pictures.

Before the great clownfish disaster.

Horrible focus, but if you look at the tail fin you can see the top two thirds is missing.

With a coral beauty as the only fish! I know, I like paddling up river. [emoji23]

The angel will stay until she out grows the tank, then I'll move her into the bigger tank to hopefully beat up that horrible clownfish.

I am going to perform weekly 5g water changes, that should be around 45% water volume. Hopefully that will take care of most of my nutrients (one fish) and my Cal, Alk and Mag. I have Red Sea foundation A, B and C to dose if/as needed.

Decided to go with the Kessil A160WE over the A80. It'll cover more of the tank and should have more than enough power to grow SPS. The stand gets here tomorrow and the light gets here Friday. Once I get the stand set up I'll go to the LFS sand pick up some live rock.

I got some corals growing in the 75g that will make their way over to the nano.

The stand got here! Assembly wasn't to bad, getting everything lined up perfectly before tightening it all down took just a few minutes. Mixing some water now to fill it up and get everything wet!
Gooseneck came in too, the A160 should be here tomorrow. I go get live rock from the LFS tomorrow also.

Following as I am curious on SPS nano. What additional circulation are you planning for this btw?

I like that stand. Very clean. Doesn't seem to have any shelving correct?

I just started cycling the Fusion 20 myself yesterday. The plan for this is LPS / SPS only as a low nutrition system.

I have a Koralia Nano 565gph powerhead coming Amazon prime tomorrow. Hopefully it won't kick up too much sand. I plan to keep it up high to try and avoid a sand storm.. I have an old Koralia 250gph and it didn't really move much in there, at least it didn't seem like it for me.

The factory pump is a bit louder than I would have liked, it has a low hum to it. It will get upgraded with a Sicce Silent 1.0, which is a little stronger at 251gph. I think that's the biggest one that fits.

I got one of those Spin Stream things to try out for a little movement. The thing was LOUD. Constant clacking while it was running. I removed it and put the regular return nozzle back on.

No shelves in the stand, but it's got channels on all the pieces and maybe I could DIY a shelf for a dosing pump. I'll need one here eventually.

The spin stream will eat up a little of the gph from the pump to keep it rotating for sure... seems best to add anywhere between 50-100 additional gph flow if u plan to keep the flow rate the same. I currently have 2 spin stream on the Fusion 20 using Sicce 1.5 pump and does seem to keep those spin going nice pace. I currently have Sicce 1.0 on the Evo. Both Sicce .5 and 1.0 pump are the same size.

I'm going to see about getting a few pieces of that stand material and build a shelf for a dosing pump to sit on. The ATO and dosing containers will sit on the floor inside the stand. I'm open for suggestions on a good two head dosing pump.

The jebao so far has been good for the last year. It's actually lower then the tank and pumps it up about 24in.
Umm I use the big wide mouth mason jars as containers. There marked at 1500ml
I found a 2.5 gallon container for my ato that fit. You might need to find a tall one or a piece of furniture to set one in next to the tank.

I know the hydrofill ti 5g resivoir will fit inside the stand. Marine Depot did a video on a few upgrades they did to a 20g peninsula, which is only just a few inches longer than my 14g. I was thinking about the Jebao DP-2 for a pump and I have plenty of Mason jars laying around. I may end up getting a small table to sit beside the stand to hold the doser and chemicals.
