On an sps dominant tank, how many times an hour are you turning over your water? I have heard 10 and I have heard 20. I run 2 3k cures and 2 mp40 for in tank flow on a 6 foot 165 gallon. I am looking yo upgrade from a mag drive to a dc return pump. I have 2-3/4 return lines plumbed to the tank with 2-1 inch drains.

I think between 4 and 6 times is pretty common. I believe the triton recommendation is 10x, but that is a lot for most people. Mine is about 6. (After Head pressure probably about 640GPH on a 110 gallon system)

Is your tank sps dominant or mixed reef?

Both lol. It is mostly SPS, but I do have zoas, nems, etc lower down to break it up and add some movement. I don’t think turnover through the sump is super important, the flow in the display is definitely most important.
