So since the neptune pmups are junk I bought an tunze ato pump and used a step down transformer from 24v to 12v but it's pulsing. So it is like it's getting intermittent power it pumps then shuts off even with the ato line disconnected any ideas?

Dunno but that's a DC to DC, is the pump DC, or AC?

Tunze Osmolator is listed as 3 - 12 V DC.

I'd start by checking your voltages on the converter with a multimeter. What are the actual voltages?

Incoming 24v outgoing 12v but when the pump is pulsing once and I while it will pump but then won't restart

Scratching my head on this one....the Neptune pump is rated at 19 watts, so the power supply has to be at a minimum supplying 19 watts....and that should be enough wattage (amps) for the Tunze. The only other thing I'd check...do you have the wires connect correctly to the Tunze as far as positive and negative.

I'd tried both ways but i couldn't find a wiring diagram it's like it has problems starting if take the tunze wires of the transformer and touch them by hand 3 to 5 times I can get it to run and stays running but when I turn power off then back on it pulses again

As far as who is positive/negative, the general rule for European wiring is brown is positive and blue is negative.

So that's how I have it wired. So if the pump has power pulsing and I disconnect the positive and put it back in without Turing off the power the pumps turns on and runs fine. Then if I turn the power of then back on it will not restart

What is the actual label on the 24 volt power supply?

I found a brs question of someone asking about this and brs said the pump is designed to work at 9v that the little controller provides. Take that for what it's worth.

Power supply to the atk

Screenshot_20240713_230541_Gallery.jpg

That checks out....wanted to make sure the amps on the pump matched the amps of the power supply. The Neptune pump was rated at 0.8 amps and the power supply was rated at 1.5. You want amps of the device being run to be powered by a supply that is equal to or greater than what is needed....all good.

If you're talking about the Tunze Osmolator pump, it's rated at 3 - 12 volts. The more volts the "faster" it runs.

I'm now at a loss as to what your problem might be. The next thing I'd do is to test the Tunze with some other 12 v power supply I have....or if you have another 24 volt power supply, hook it up to the converter and test that. My thought is that the original power supply is fried.

The meter is reading 12.1, very would could be maxing out the windings.

I'm in hvac so definitely not an electrical engineer. I just think it might be worth dropping it to 9v and trying again.

Cheap test imo
