Might not be a popular opinion, but I’ve been doing a lot less testing of water parameters recently. I religiously do things to optimize water quality, but when I was testing a lot, I was way too reactive to every little swing up or down, which I found to do more harm than good. I test when anything seems even a little amiss by observing the tank, but not much else.

That being said, I don’t have a SPS dominant tank, which allows me that luxury, I suppose.

You want to hear something really controversial?

I don’t even own a calcium, alk, or mag test kit. I literally do not test my water, and do 20% water changes every 2-3 weeks.
